Dec 17, 2018 · Haven't driven a Detroit locker. Have a true trac. Only downside of the truetrac that I can tell is if you completely lift a wheel and can't use brakes to provide slight pressure (as long as you are on reasonable size tires). I've heard that the Detroit lockers are scary on the snow (where the true trac works great).

  8. Oct 21, 2006 · I have the Dana S60 Detroit Locker 4.10 rear, but I am into drag racing and street more then touring road racing. They Strange has the rear setup you mentioned Trutrac Posi and maybe in a big Dana 60 it will work better for your power levels.
  9. I have in my 12 bolt, a Detroit Tru Trac! Have NOT had any issues what so ever. :no: I do NOT baby it either. If I was to do it again though, I would go with a Eaton posi unit and add the additive. From what I have read, Tru Tracks are more for road racing and street driving. While the Eaton works better for drag racing. Just my :2cents:!
  10. I run a Detroit Locker in my 89 Dakota daily driver with 4.10 gears, and I gotta agree with most of these guys, I wouldn't recommend any locker for regular snow driving. It's great for traction/drag racing and towing but it could get you into serious trouble in the snow - I definitely wouldn't chance it on a family car.
